The Cryptnox FIDO2 Smart Card
The Cryptnox FIDO card is a certified FIDO2 authenticator device that enables highly secure authentication on websites through passwordless login (resident key) or as a second-factor authentication (2FA) with a single tap. The card can be used via NFC communication or connected to a computer via a smart card reader without the need for any software or drivers to be installed. It is natively supported by browsers on most mobile and desktop operating systems (see list below).
For use of the Cryptnox FIDO card on mobile operating systems such as Android and iOS, it is essential to look for the specific antenna NFC location on the Cryptnox website or in your mobile phone documentation. Typically, the NFC antenna is at the top for iPhones and in the middle or middle top for Android phones. Placing the card at the specific NFC location of the phone is crucial to ensuring stable communication. For desktops, Windows is supported with a smart card reader (contact or NFC).
The availability of the FIDO standard features depends on the website implementation and may differ. Typically, it is used for highly secure second-factor authentication (2FA). You can find information on feature availability in the settings or security section of your account. To use the device, it must be registered with your specific account, following the website's instructions.
Examples of websites that implement the FIDO standard are Google, Facebook, Twitter, Dropbox, Outlook, and many more. You can use the Cryptnox FIDO card on these sites on major browsers from your iPhone or Android mobile phone. To use it from a browser on your Windows desktop, a card reader is required.
The Cryptnox FIDO card can natively be used as an Apple ID or iOs Security Key for second factor authentication. A minimum of two cards is required, and this functionality is natively part of the operating system. No software or driver installation is required.
You can also have secure authentication on your Windows desktop if you have a Microsoft 365 Business Premium and a card reader. This functionality is also part of the Windows operating system, and no additional software is required. You can find instructions in Microsoft Support by searching for "Microsoft support set up a security key as your verification method."
