increasing their sensitivity to bring their natural tonal characteristics into focus. The single channel Cloudlifter CL-Z and Cloudlifter CL-Zi provide up to +25dB of ultra-clean gain with variable impedance, optimized for a variety of microphones. The Cloudlifter CL-Zi provides new tonal possibilities with continuously variable input impedance via a single control - the vari-Z knob. The vari-Z knob provides ultimate control over your mic's character. Whether you’re using an expensive mic/preamp combination in a professional application, or more affordable microphones with a basic home set-up, Cloudlifters provide way more signal from the microphone itself, allowing the preamp to operate in its optimal range by reducing the amount of gain needed. For those recording professionally, at home, or performing on stage, Cloudlifters are valuable tools that produce high quality, professional audio


Up to +25 dB of Gain Hear more of your dynamic and ribbon microphone's natural character and increase the clarity with +25dB of ultra-clean gain! Cloudlifters provide ultra-clean gain in 2 distinct stages while optimizing impedance loading. The Cloudlifter uses +48v Phantom Power, but does not pass power to the mic. For this reason, the Cloudlifter is a great way to keep your ribbon and tube mics safe from exposure to Phantom Power while providing the extra gain they need.	Sonically Transform Your Microphones In Mic Mode, the impedance values range from 150-15k Ohms. In DI Mode the range is roughly 100x, or about 15k-1.5Meg. It provides the ability to precisely match - or creatively mismatch - the ideal manufacturer-specified impedance of dynamic, tube, and ribbon mics. ? How did we get our start?

Rodger Cloud began Cloud Microphones with a dream to bring the soul of vintage recordings into the modern era. The early years of Cloud saw Rodger repairing and retrofitting vintage mics so that he could one day develop and design his own.

Why do we love what we do?

We build all of our products with love by hand from our headquarters in Tucson, AZ where we source materials in-state whenever possible, including circuit boards from the Navajo reservation.
