Gluten Free Muesli

This lovely blend of gluten free oats, nuts and seeds, and dried fruit can be enjoyed for breakfast in many ways: hot with brown sugar like porridge; cold with milk; or soaked overnight with yogurt and shredded apple.

Our fantastic muesli recipe is a tasty blend of lightly toasted whole grains, brown rice crisps, raisins, dried apples and cranberries, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds and coconut flakes. It’s unprocessed and has less sugar than granola. The end result is a highly nutritious cereal centered on whole grains that’s addictively tasty to boot! Consider our muesli a jumping-off point: pour coconut milk over these muesli flakes for a non-dairy breakfast, or add goji berries for extra antioxidants. You can also add peanut butter for extra protein, or top it with a mixture of maple syrup, honey or coconut oil. However, muesli isn’t just for breakfast: you can eat these grains out of the bag as a snack or bake it up in cookies and quick breads.

Apple Muesli Sandwiches

Instructions:

Carefully core the apple and slice cross-wise into eight rings (about 1/4-inch thick).
Spread half a tablespoon of sunflower seed butter onto each apple ring. Set aside four rings.
Sprinkle 1 tablespoon muesli on each of the remaining apple rings. Top with the reserved apple rings, sunflower seed butter side down, to make four tasty sandwiches!

1 medium sweet Apple (Fuji, Braeburn, Honeycrisp), rinsed and dried
1/4 cup Sunflower Seed Butter see recipe link below

Many years ago, my wife Charlee and I stayed at a beautiful bed and breakfast in the Scottish countryside. One morning, our hostess served us the most amazing cereal. It was full of rolled grains, nuts, seeds and dried fruit. This was my first contact with the traditional European cereal known as muesli. A quick bit of history: muesli was invented over a century ago by a Swiss doctor who was way ahead of his time when it came to understanding the health benefits of whole grains. He made all of his patients eat muesli every day, and they loved it!

I enjoyed that muesli so much that I was inspired to make my very own version of this nutritious cereal. Our fantastic Gluten Free Muesli is a tasty blend of lightly toasted gluten free rolled oats, brown rice crisps, delectable dried fruits, crunchy nuts and seeds. And since we know that even a little bit of gluten can be a big problem for those of you with gluten sensitivities, we ensure the integrity of our Gluten Free Muesli every step of the way. Like all our gluten free products, our Gluten Free Muesli is mixed and packaged in our delicately gluten free facility, and batch tested in our quality control laboratory. Whether you eat it hot, cold, or soaked in yogurt overnight (the traditional swiss way), I just know you will enjoy this wholesome cereal.

Perfectly Simple Cereal

Our Gluten Free Muesli is wonderfully tasty and nourishing! What makes this cereal so great? It's perfectly simple:

Whole grain nutrition.
Dried fruit adds a touch of wholesome sweetness.
Nuts and seeds bring pleasant flavor and crunch.

Suggested Use

Have it Hot

Stovetop: For hot cereal, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Add 1.2 cup muesli, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for about 7 minutes. Remove from heat, cover, and let stand for 2 minutes before serving. Makes 2 delicious servings.

Microwave: Put 1/4 cup muesli and 1/2 cup water or milk in a large bowl. Microwave on high for 3 minutes, stopping to stir once during cooking. Makes 1 marvelous serving.

Make it Cold

For cold cereal, add 1/4 cup muesli to 1/2 cup yogurt, milk or fruit juice. Let sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Makes 1 terrific serving.

Try it Swiss Style

To make 1 serving of Swiss-style cereal, combine 1/4 cup muesli, 1/2 cup yogurt and 1 cored and grated apple (including the peel). Cover and let sit in the refrigerator overnight.
