DARK BUT NOT BURNT

Strada Blend is a darkish roast coffee blend. The long slow roast develops flavours of dark chocolate and toasted hazelnut, peppery notes from the robusta and a sweetness like dark treacle and molasses. The coffee is strong without the associated bitterness and oiliness of many dark roasted blends.

Strada Espresso Blend

Award winning quality fresh espresso coffee beans

Strada is our take on the classic espresso style. It is roasted slower and darker than many of our other coffees, which results in a heavier-bodied cup and a more intense flavour with low acidity.

We use a blend of two types of coffee in this blend: it is 80% arabica and 20% robusta.

In 2019 Strada Blend was awarded 2-Star Gold in the Great Taste Awards. Judges described the coffee as having "a lovely dark chocolate note with a mild smokey finish" and liked that it's "smooth and well rounded"

Strada Blend Origins


Brazil Serra de Mantiqueira The base of our blend is a natural processed coffee from Serra de Mantiqueira, a mountain range which spans between Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais states in South East Brazil.	Uganda Sironko Adding aroma and character to the blend is this coffee from small farms in Eastern Uganda. This is a washed coffee which adds brightness, notes of spice, walnut and maple syrup to the blend.	Rwanda Coko We use a small percentage of fine grade, high grown washed robusta in this blend, which is produced by a co-operative in Coko, Kigali. The coffee adds an unmistakeable, intense character to the blend.

The hard work of the coffee farmers can easily be undone by mistakes during roasting. Roasting coffee is a delicate process that requires skill and precision to maximise the quality of the finished coffee.

The gentle roasting of the coffee is what develops and unlocks its potential - turning a fairly flavourless, inedible seed into something remarkably complex and delicious.

Coffee beans behave differently in the roaster depending on where they're grown and how they're processed. Our bespoke roasting method combines modern technology with traditional method to create a unique 'roasting profile' for each coffee. This profile controls factors like time & heat to maximise the beans character and achieve excellent taste.

Coffees are cupped (tasted) for quality at several stages of the roast to ensure consistency. This helps us learn, and in this way, ensure every batch of coffee reaches its full flavour potential.

After years of roasting coffee, we know that not not everyone likes the same thing. We try to be as clear and honest as possible when describing our coffees, so you can make an informed choice, or at very least, a pretty safe punt.

Coffee is as varied as the people who drink it. Some absolutely love bright, fruity, funky coffees with exotic flavour notes. Others find dark, toasty and intense coffees irresistible. We're not here to tell what's right and what's wrong. Some people who buy Strada Espresso think it's the best coffee EVER. Others have said, 'Yeah, it's good, but it's not my favourite!'. While we'd love to please all of the people all of the time, we're old enough and ugly enough to know better.

What can promise is this: when we say that we put REALLY HIGH QUALITY coffees in this blend, we mean it. That is a fact. No tricks. We are roast seasonal, traceable, quality-controlled and graded coffees, every time.
