The Assam GFOP infusion has a distinctive, rather intense, and slightly sweet taste, a light colour, and a pleasant aroma. It has a refreshing and stimulating effect. The abbreviation GFOP (Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) means that the tea has golden tips which indicate its high quality. Assam is a vast and beautiful area of dense forests and open rolling plains through which the mighty Brahmaputra river runs, carrying rich fertile soil down from the mountains of Tibet to the agricultural plains. Exceptionally high rainfall (sometimes exceeding 10m in just one season) produces a very humid environment comparable to being inside a vast greenhouse - consequently, the plants thrive, producing a tea that is very different from Darjeeling. Second Flush - this is, of course, tea made from leaves from the second harvest. The monsoon rains make the bushes bushy with leaves. When they reach the right size, around mid-May, the leaves are harvested for the second time. Brewing guide: 0.5 to 1 teaspoon of tea per cup, Temperature of water: 95 °C, Brewing time : 3 to 4 minutes

Brewing method: 1 heaped teaspoonful of tea per cup add freshly drawn boiling water and infuse for up to 7 minutes. Perfect with or without milk. Assam is a vast and beautiful area of dense forests and open rolling plains through which the mighty Brahmaputra river runs, carrying rich fertile soil down from the mountains of Tibet to the agricultural plains. Exceptionally high rainfall (sometimes exceeding 10m in just one season) produces a very humid environment comparable to being inside a vast greenhouse - consequently the plants thrive, producing a tea which is very different to Darjeeling. Assam is the largest tea growing area in the world, where 2,000 gardens can produce almost 450,000 tons of tea each year. Assam tea accounts for about 55 per cent of India's total annual production. This black tea produces a rich, full-bodied amber-coloured drink with a malty flavour that is slightly softened by its delicate honey notes. It is composed of finely twisted leaves with occasional golden, downy tips. It presents a strong taste that is highlighted by its malty sweet aroma. Perfect with or without milk. Assam (TGFOP stands for Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) tea is a classic black tea produced in India's north-eastern state of Assam.
