Charcoal is activated by processing wood at high temperatures. This process produces charcoal that is more porous than regular charcoal. Wood is burned until it has small pores that increase its surface area, resulting in a highly adsorbent fine black powder. It has been used for many purposes throughout history. Egyptians used charcoal’s anti-bacterial properties to help wood from rotting during construction. In 1500 B.C. Egyptians used charcoal for the absorption of unpleasant odors from wounds. In more recent times, activated charcoal is employed by every modern hospital for many different applications. Activated Charcoal has a variety of applications that range from beauty products to water filtration. Use Anthony’s Activated Charcoal to make homemade face masks and soaps, give foods a unique twist of color, whiten teeth and more!

Activated charcoal is also used for gas reduction, water filtration, hangover prevention, and skin treatment.
