Only Ampersand cradles are handcrafted with premium-grade, 13-ply birch plywood for maximum stability and a clean, finished look from edge to edge. Offering support and presentation all-in-one, artists may choose to seal and paint the cradles or leave them untouched to allow the natural beauty of the wood cradle to show. Ready to Customize Unprimed wood panels are ideal for artists that prefer a quality surface to seal and prime with a ground of their choice. A great alternative to canvas, Hardbord is perfectly suited for all acrylic gessoes, specialty grounds, traditional gesso, and oil primers.	Strength and Durability Hardbord is the most stable substrate on the market for your artwork and is used for all Ampersand Museum Series coated panels.	FSC-certified and Artist Safe Central to Ampersand’s mission is to ensure that our products do not harm the environment or the artists who use them. Both our domestic and imported panels are made from FSC-certified forest products that promote sustainable forests and are also free from formaldehyde or harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds), unlike other hardboards and MDF boards.

If you prefer to make your own grounds or unique textures, then this superior quality tempered masonite will assure that you start with the best of substrates. Hardbord is smooth on both sides and is extremely durable. Cuts to the size you need. 1/8 in. thickness.
