Ampersand's Encausticbord is a finely textured, highly absorbent panel formulated for the unique demands of encaustic painting and mixed media. Encausticbord is made from our premium warp-resistant 1/8" profile Hardbord and coated with a specially formulated gesso to form a bright, velvety surface that is ready to use for encaustic painting. Only Ampersand cradles are handcrafted with premium-grade, 13-ply birch plywood for maximum stability and a clean, finished look from edge to edge. Offering support and presentation all-in-one, artists may choose to seal and paint the cradles or leave them untouched to allow the natural beauty of the wood cradle to show.
