WHAT IS FENTANYL (FYL)

FENTANYL:

Fentanyl is a potent, synthetic opioid analgesic with a rapid onset and short duration of action. It is a strong agonist at the µ-opioid receptors. Historically it has been used to treat breakthrough pain and is commonly used in pre-procedures as a pain reliever. Fentanyl is approximately 80 to 100 times more potent than morphine. It comes in a powder form and can be injected, smoked, or snorted.

DIRECTIONS:


STEP 1 Remove the strip from its foil pouch and label the strip with Patient's name or identity.	STEP 2 Submerge the reactive end of the strip (marked with dotted lines) into the sample for 15 seconds. DO NOT let the sample touch the MAX line on the strip to avoid inconclusive results.	STEP 3 Place the test strip on a flat surface and read the results after 5 minutes. DO NOT read results after 10 minutes.	STEP 4 Discard the strip into the dustbin.


POSITIVE: One line appears in the Control Region (C). No Line appears in the Test Region (T).	NEGATIVE: Two Lines appear. One in the Control Region (C) and another apparent color line adjacent should be in the Test Region (T).	INVALID: Control Line fails to appear or One line in Test Region (T).

QUALITY CONTROL

CUTOFF LEVEL	Cutoff level for Fentanyl is 10ng/ml.
DETECTION PERIOD	Fentanyl can be detected in a substance 24-72 hours after the last consumption.
PRECAUTIONS	The strip is for single use only and it must remain in the sealed pouch until use. The use of gloves is recommended. Read the Expiry date before use.

INTERNAL CONTROLS	A procedural control is included in the test. A color line appearing in the control region (C) is considered an internal procedural control. It confirms sufficient specimen volume, adequate membrane wicking, and correct procedural technique.
ATTENTION	A negative result may not necessarily indicate drug-free substances. Negative results can be obtained when drug is present but below the cut-off level of the test.
INTENDED USE	This test is intended for (forensic use only) and test for both urine and substances.
